One of the wonderful things about living in Southern California is the abundance of farmers’ markets. If you’re looking for the biggest variety of fresh produce, I highly recommend the Wednesday market in Santa Monica, or the Sunday market in Hollywood. You’ll want to get there early in order to find the best selection and avoid crowds.
If you’re not a big fan of fighting through throngs for produce, you might want to check out the West LA market on Sundays. That’s where I went today, and ended up with this fine collection of fruits and veg. Hopefully I’ll actually use all of this before it goes bad. That’s the one hazard to going to the market, I suppose: it’s too tempting to buy a lot more produce than one can possibly use!
